Thanks to everyone who came out to Bush Terminal on Saturday! Volunteers from Wild Ones and PS 516 were joined by several NY Master Naturalists. Not only were almost 100 native plants installed, but a large patch of mugwort was cleared along with lots of garbage. If the mugwort tries to come back it will have to compete with common milkweed, field thistle, and white thoroughwort. Thanks to Partnerships for Parks for for funding, tools, publicity, and help! Here comes the butterfly milkweed! Asclepias tuberosa is one of my favorites. Don’t mind aphids and milkweed bugs. It’s all part of the process, they make the plant stronger, and they feed other insects.
